At Portescap, we take pride in our unwavering commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). We firmly believe that businesses have a responsibility to contribute positively to the communities and environments in which they operate, and through various initiatives and collaborations, we strive to make a meaningful impact on the world around us. This commitment is made even stronger through our relationship with Regal Rexnord. Having recently joined the RRX portfolio, we align our principles with our parent company’s robust approach to CSR, sharing the vision of creating positive change and sustainability across the industries we serve.
Our CSR Pillars:
Community Engagement. Our responsibility to our local communities doesn’t end when we exit our offices and facilities! By collaborating with local groups and organizations, we aim to create opportunities for education, healthcare, and socio-economic development. From financial donations, helping feed those in need, partnering with local universities and educational institutions, and taking place in Portescap’s annual Day of Caring, our employees actively work to make their communities a better place.
Continuous Improvement. We utilize the Regal Rexnord Business System as our framework for continuous improvement. By employing the 80/20 mindset to identify our most valuable opportunities and leveraging lean tools and Kaizen events, our growth is accelerated and waste, variation, and overburden removed.
Employee Empowerment. Our employees are at the heart of our success, and we prioritize their well-being and growth. We foster a diverse and inclusive work environment, invest in employee development, and promote work-life balance, ensuring a motivated and talented workforce.
Environmental Stewardship. We are conscious of our environmental impact and aim to reduce this through innovative solutions and efficient operations. From a global manufacturing footprint that ensures cost-effectiveness, continuity, and timeliness of supply chains to our production of motion technologies that greatly improve the efficiency of performance-critical applications, we remain focused on environmental improvement.
Operating with Integrity. As a Regal Rexnord company, we know that integrity matters and uphold the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and transparency in all our operations accordingly. Our business practices are designed to comply with local and global regulations, as well as ensure fair treatment of our employees, customers, suppliers, and partners. This includes following a strict Code of Conduct, a due diligence process in sourcing materials, and a comprehensive risk management program.
CSR in Action
Our colleagues from across the globe gladly donate their time, energy, and passion for the purpose of serving others. In the United States, employees from our US headquarters in West Chester, Pennsylvania, often partner with local non-profits, recreational centers, public libraries, and Habitat for Humanity to complete general facility maintenance and grounds cleanup; work on the construction of new homes; and organize food and clothing drives. At the La Chaux-de-Fonds office in Switzerland, you can find our team members cleaning the shorelines of the local rivers, partnering with local groups to visit with the elderly, and organizing winter clothing drives for women and children. Both locations also hold annual Days of Caring, where our employees are given the day to volunteer and form connections with the organizations working inside our communities.
In India, our CSR partnerships with the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and the Christian Medical College, Vellore help fund various research initiatives dedicated to improving patients’ quality of life. Examples of these innovations include the design and development of a miniature rotary actuator based on flexinol SMA; an adaptive smart stick for sit-to- stand motion; an interactive cloud-based diagnostic platform for oral cancer; and an affordable multi-fingered prosthetic hand. Rehabilitation robots, including PLUTO for wrist rehabilitation, MARS for upper limb rehabilitation, and AREBO for shoulder and elbow joint rehabilitation, are also being developed and are aimed at assisting individuals with arm impairments to improve arm motion/movement.
