Day of Caring: Innovation from Within
The definition of innovating is to make changes to what is already establish. At Portescap we are always innovating, improving upon our processes and products to add value. Community organizations across the country are doing the same thing, they are changing our community and our world by building upon what is established. A Day of Caring is an opportunity where our team of innovators can come together with community innovators to help make our community a better place.
This year our team across the globe gave their time and resources to a lot of great causes. Our team at Portescap in West Chester, Pennsylvania worked with ten organizations to give back. We partnered with Friends Association, Philabundance and La Communidad Hispana organizations that focus on providing nutritious fresh foods to families across our area. We also worked with providing resources to ARC of Chester County and The Concept School, both organizations aid children with development and intellectual disabilities. This year we also worked closely with Nemours Children's Hospital and Bringing Hope Home, an organization that provides families with cancer both emotional and financial support. Our employees also volunteered at La Mancha, an animal rescue for dogs, cats, and horses. While others gave back working with the Chester Public Library and The Land of Conservancy for Southern Chester County.
Our Portescap team in Europe joined forces with the APSSA Association for a cleanup day of the Seyon River. The association was created by concerned citizens who banded together to rehabilitate and preserve the watershed. The river once was home to a list of wildlife, including white-legged crayfish. Our team tracked through bushes and the water to collect bags of waste, including several old tires.
We here at Portescap believes that we should always work on improving, whether it’s our product, business practices, or our community. A Day of Caring gives our employee a chance to get to know each other a little better while making a connection with organizations working inside our community. And our employees agree, every year those employees who participated in the Day of Caring comment on how valuable and how much fun they had!
