Thankful at Thanksgiving - Portescap Gives Back
At Portescap, we deeply believe in giving back to our local communities. From organizing a successful food drive for the West Chester Food Cupboard in West Chester, Pennsylvania to our CSR partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, our colleagues from across the globe gladly donate their time, energy, and passion for the purpose of serving others. This Thanksgiving season, we’d like to highlight our two most recent acts of giving: the Day of Volunteering at Portescap US and the Day of Caring at Portescap Switzerland.
Day of Volunteering at Portescap US – West Chester, Pennsylvania, USA
On November 4th, 2022, employees from our US headquarters volunteered at five different organizations across the West Chester area:
- Home of the Sparrow. This incredible organization partners with women facing homelessness to secure housing and achieve long-term personal and financial stability. Our volunteers assisted in painting the porch area, laying a brick sidewalk, and a general grounds cleanup.
- West Chester Area Day Care Center. A local non-profit childcare program that provides top-quality daycare and education for its children who attend, the West Chester Area Day Care Center has been a community pillar since 1962. Portescap volunteers helped the facility by organizing a large storage shed and using their handiness to fix items in the playground area and around the facility.
- Melton Center. The Melton Center offers the West Chester area a wide variety of educational, recreational, and fun programming opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment. We were thrilled with being able to organize clothing for their clothing pantry and packaging food!
- West Chester Public Library. Libraries are staples of the community, providing everyone with equal access to information, ideas, and knowledge through books, programs, and other resources. Participants helped the West Chester Public Library team organize the shelves in the adult and children’s sections, making it easier for the public to find books and materials.
- Habitat for Humanity. The Habitat for Humanity of Chester County helps build strong foundations for the future by building new homes to ensure everyone has a safe place to live! The Portescap team assisted a local contractor with a variety of needed tasks pertaining to the construction of new homes.
Day of Caring at Portescap Switzerland – La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland
October and November were marked by three exciting volunteering opportunities at Portescap Switzerland: cleaning the shorelines of the Seyon River, partnering with Pro Senectute to visit with the elderly, and a winter clothing drive for women and children in need.
- Cleaning the Seyon. On October 25th, 2022, over a dozen Portescap employees gathered to clean the shorelines of the Seyon River! This waterway cleanup helped tremendously in making the river a safer, healthier place for both wildlife and people.
- Pro Senectute Partnership. The Swiss office partnered with Pro Senectute, an organization that focuses on providing seniors in the local area a wide range of services and activities. The team visited twenty seniors in their homes, bringing each one a basket filled with all kinds of goodies!
- Winter Clothing Drive. The team is currently working with the SOS Future Mamans organization to collect winter clothing for mothers and children in need.
We're proud to be able to support the efforts of local organizations who are doing so much for people in need and look forward to continuing this support for years to come!
