IIT Madras CSR Partnership Leads to Development of Arm Rehabilitation Robot (AREBO)
AREBO, or the “Arm Rehabilitation Robot,” is an innovative new medical development resulting from the CSR partnership between Portescap and the Indian Institute of Technology – Madras (IIT Madras). As a rehabilitation tool focused on aiding individuals with various arm impairments, AREBO helps facilitate and train patient arm movements. This not only increases a patient’s mobility, but also assists therapists in remotely monitoring the performance of the patient, which helps in planning their therapy accordingly.
“I would like to thank you for your support for R2D2, particularly your support of the Arm Rehabilitation Robot, called AREBO,” states Prof. Sujatha Srinivasan, a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the head of the Center for Rehabilitation Research and Device Development (R2D2) at IIT Madras. “Your financial support helps us to continue our mission of developing functional and affordable products for rehabilitation needs in India and beyond.”
Portescap strives to live its value of saving, improving, and enhancing lives, and the CSR partnership with IIT Madras brings this value to life. From AREBO to future product innovations, Portescap looks forward to continuing partnering with universities and other institutions across the globe on the development of new technologies to improve patients’ quality of life.
